A History of Canadian Cricket

Canada have just competed in their fourth Word Cup, but their cricketing history goes back much further. I have written a book on the history of cricket in Canada and have set up this wiki to allow anyone interested to have a sneak preview of each chapter.

The book is entitled "A History of Canadian Cricket: An immigrant's game?" and is available from the website Lulu.com at the very reasonable price of £6.99 + Postage and Packaging.

It's also available from Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com and it has been reviewed by the websites Cricket Web and Cover Point

My book was nominated for the Cricket Society Book Award 2011. It reached the long-list and so was reviewed. The chances of it being short-listed were about the same as Canada's chances of reaching the knock-out stages of the World Cup. Its chances of it winning the Award were about the same as Canada's chances of winning the 2011 World Cup. But what the hey! It was an honour just to be nominated!

The Brave New World will be an interesting chapter. I have information, articles and original documents you can use. Frederick Heather was my great uncle and a cricket umpire of high calibre for 38 years. While the war killed a generation of cricketers, Frederick Heather spent his life serving the game before and after the war. Frederick Heather is going to be awarded the Jack Kyle Development Award by Cricket Canada and he is up for nomination to the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame as a "builder" of Canadian cricket.
